Tips and Tricks for Budget Traveller
Travelling places to places is the most popular activity across the globe that every human crave for. Every human of any age group enjoy travelling. It can be local travel or a International one. There are some tips which you can follow and save a huge amount of money and enjoy your trip at the same time.. So friends this is your host Anuj Kumar (*all tips mentioned below are as of my persnol experience).
Pre Planning
Before starting the trip you must plan almost everything like destination, tickets, Visa (if travelling abroad) bookings, hotels, foods, clothes, places to visit, rides, budget, cash etc. most of the time while going on a trip we all are on hurry and messed up with our plans and spoil our trip. The disadvantage of a unplanned trip are like you messed up with tourist attraction places, you checked-in on a average hotel and pay a huge amount of money. Its really helpful to plan and organize your trip to make it happening and memorable.
Soft Copies
Have a soft copies of tickets, bills and bookings. While travelling we all have to book tickets hotels, restaurant etc. Its really very useful to keep all your hard copy documents as a soft copy on your phone, laptop or on cloud storage while travelling. This may look creepy and non-sense to some of you but trust me its worth the effort and you will thanks me later.
Avoid Hotels
Ya you heard it right I said avoid hotels. As a budget traveler its my personal experience that hotels are very expensive at most of the popular tourist places. I have a very easy and affordable solution for this problem. Try hostels, yes that's true. Hostels are available across the globe at a very cheap price like 400 to 600 Indian Rupees per dormitory ( A bed in a large bedroom like place). These hostels are well maintained and are rich in culture. You can find fellow travelers like you from every part the world (foreigners). Some options for my recommended hostels are given below.
* Zostel It is a well managed hostel which provide sevice in India and Nepal.
*Oyo Rooms This is a chain of hotels which provide accommodation in a very cheap price.
* Couch Surfing This Website serve world wide you can live with locals of that place.
(you can click on the name of the service to directly visit their website)
*For best price you can book the hostel or Dormitory 15 day before your visit to avail a good price.
Light Meals
As you all know you are travelling and I am damn sure you don't want a upset stomach while your trip. This problem can really be annoying. some of the tips to avoid these problems are listed below.
*Avoid highly spicy foods.
*Avoid over oily foods (the oil used on most of the tourist spots are not good for health)
*Regular use washrooms don't try to control the pressure if you have the convenience don't try to be over smart, if you don't do it will result in upset somach.
*Use digestive pills after heavy meals.
* Avoid dirty street food it may result in food poisoning
* Avoid locally made and packed snacks which are copied from reputed brand these are really dangerous.
Pack Light
While travelling the biggest mess is your Luggage. Try to pack light and only the useful stuffs apart from the waste which only occupy space and increase weight. Just carry limited clothes rather than carrying whole wardrobe. Carry useful things like Slippers, Shoes, chargers of mobile, camera or laptops etc.
Google Translate, Maps
Google Translate, Maps etc are like God's gifts for the traveler like me. Google Translate is just WOW on my opinion. It really simplify your trip and make the experience worth remembering. Google maps its wonderful it can save a huge amount of money in many ways. It provides Offline maps and also the navigation system is surely going to blow your mind. you can use the navigation system while the taxi or rickshaw ride and you can navigate the direction of your destination without getting robbed by the auto walas. both these google service are available on google play store as .apk files and provide offline services.
Try Hitchhiking
Hitchhiking is Travelling with free lifts in the passing by vehicle. Ya you heard it right Lifts.
Its getting common in every part of the world. By hitchhiking you can reach your destination easily and free. You can make local friends and have a chit-chat about the place. I cant say its 100% safe but it depends on the person you are asking lift from. you can read a article and tips about hitchhiking by clicking here.
Bonus tips
* Use public transport rather than booking a cab.
* Carry your medicines in sufficient dose and also carry some pills for injury, headache,
stomachache, loose motion, Vomiting pill, if travelling on hill station or on high altitude carry a small oxygen tanks.
* Avoid booking hotels or lodge late evening or at night.
I have personally experience this you can also use this tip hotel booking in day time and in night time have much difference in rates. Same hotel you can book in a much cheaper rate in day rather than night. Just try that and feel the difference and share your experience in comment section below.
